We, in partnership with Lovell, have been granted planning permission by South Norfolk Council for 461 news homes in Harleston.

The development, which will be delivered with the help of funding from Homes England, is Saffron’s largest development yet and will include 258 affordable properties, and 203 homes for sale that are being sold by local housing, Lovell Partnerships LTD. There will be a mix of 1-, 2-, 3- and 4-bedroom houses for rent and shared ownership, as well as 91 Independent Community Living Plus apartments.

Homes on the new site in Harleston will all be fitted with Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHP) which will provide enough heat and hot water for the homes whilst also lowering carbon emissions.

It is anticipated construction will start on the new homes this summer and the whole site, including a new Independent Community Living Scheme, will be completed in 2029.

James Francis, Saffron’s Chief Executive Officer, said: “I am delighted that we have been given the green light for this development. We aim to support our local community and by offering 258 affordable homes for local people, we can inspire the people of Norfolk to thrive in their own home.”

Joe Bootman, Land and Planning Manager at Saffron, said: “We are proud to be undertaking our largest ever development yet. Our teams are working hard to get these wonderful, energy efficient, new homes built safely and efficiently.”

Simon Medler, regional managing director at Lovell, said: “This location is in the stunning market town of Harleston in South Norfolk close to the river Waveney, and we are confident that these homes will be snapped up by local people when they go on sale. We are pleased to be working in partnership with Saffron Housing Trust delivering much needed high quality new homes.”
