Grounds Maintenance Manager, Ben Appleby, and Neighbourhood Officer Sally-Anne Bennett joined Councillor Carmina McConnell and Wymondham High Academy PE Teacher Sue Gilmour at the Silfield play area in Wymondham to celebrate the installation of two new basketball hoops on a dedicated court.
'It’s great to support Sue Gilmour in getting the basketball hoops installed,’ commented Ben. ‘They will be a real benefit to the community, encouraging local people to get outdoors and stay active'.
The project was delivered through a collaborative effort between Saffron Housing, Wymondham High Academy, Wymondham Sports Bar and local donations, with additional funding provided through Broadland and South Norfolk Council's Go for It and Community Action Fund grants.
The new facility will provide a valuable space for people of all ages to enjoy sport and physical activity. With summer well underway and the school holidays almost upon us, the basketball court offers a fantastic opportunity for outdoor recreation, helping the local community make the most of the long, sunny days ahead.
