Helping our tenants and staff support the 75th anniversary of VE DayPublished: 7th May 2020
We are helping others to support the 75th anniversary of VE Day in lockdown.
The anniversary of Victory in Europe Day on 8th May 2020 was set to be a significant occasion with the May bank holiday moved and largescale events planned to commemorate the landmark.
We are working with the Royal British Legion, National Memorial Arboretum and Citizen to help people mark the anniversary from their home by reading about VE Day and taking part in activities.
Special activity packs have been created for children and adults, which include puzzles, recipes, extracts from Churchill speeches, lyrics to war songs and much more.
James Francis, CEO at Saffron, said: “We felt it was important to offer our staff and tenants the opportunity to mark this hugely significant anniversary.”
“Out of lockdown this would have been a very special event and it is important that it isn’t lost. We hope the activity packs will help people get involved in the 75th anniversary of VE Day in whatever way they can.”
Packs are available for 7-11-year-olds, 11-16-year-olds and 16+.They can be downloaded from the National Memorial Arboretum website here.
