National and Local standards for tenants

The Tenant Services Authority (regulators for the social housing sector) have undertaken two national consultations asking people living in social housing what is important to them regarding their homes and communities.

After the final consultation in February 2010 they have issued six new standards which landlords will be regulated on and are expected to comply with.

They place greater emphasis on the relationship between landlords and their tenants at the local level. The standards put tenants at the heart of shaping, influencing and monitoring the services they receive.

Local standards

Landlords across the country will now be expected by the TSA to work jointly with tenants to put together their own sets of local standards known as 'local offers'. These will reflect the priorities of Saffron customers and their local communities.
