New Play Area For Diss

21 Apr 2010

It's play time in Willbye Avenue!

Whilst the rest of the country is caught up with swings to the right and left and polls going up and down, the children of Willbye Avenue in Diss are enjoying similar movements on their play equipment at the newly landscaped recreation area.

Local residents had asked Saffron Housing Trust for help in getting more play equipment on a piece of land outside their homes which had just one set of swings. Saffron approached Diss Town Council and Playbuilder, through the South Norfolk Council Play Partnership Forum, to help with funding for this project and a great example of partnership working came to fruition.

Residents have been involved in the planning, design and layout of the area - with public consultations being held in local schools and at the Corn Hall – so that as many people's views as possible could be taken into account.

Saffron was also delighted with the offer from Diss Town Council to recycle some play equipment once sited at the Mere and which has been re-sited at Willbye Avenue for toddlers and young children to use.

Adam Ronaldson, Chief Executive of Saffron Housing Trust, says: "Saffron is always delighted when we can help improve facilities for local communities. We hope that over the coming months children will enjoy the fantastic range of equipment available at Willbye Avenue, Diss."
