From the first of July, John Whitelock joined the Executive Team as Director of New Business taking on a new role combining the housing development side of Saffron Housing Trust with bringing in new services and opportunities. Some of our customers will know John as he has been with Saffron, initially with the supported housing team, since it started six years ago. He is looking forward to his new role and believes that Saffron is well placed to help develop new services for tenants and the wider community. Saffron is also delighted to welcome new Board members, South Norfolk Councillors Eloise Ellis and John Overton.

Your Responsibilities

You must keep the inside of your home clean, in good condition and well decorated. You will be responsible for repairing, maintaining or replacing the items listed below. Tenants of Sheltered Schemes or the disabled and other persons may be able to have some of these repairs carried out by us. Please contact your Scheme Manager or Area Housing Officer for Information.

a) Repairs and Internal Decoration
- any equipment, fixtures or fittings you have fitted in your home or outside your home such as fences, driveways or porches;
- light bulbs, electric plugs, fluorescent tubes (except those in communal areas);
- washing lines (unless you share them with other people;
- the garden (except communal gardens) including patios and gravel paths;
- equipment, fixtures or fittings left in your home by a former tenant and left in place at your request;
- cracked or broken glass (except where we accept responsibility);
- non-mains operated smoke alarms fitted by you. In particular, you are responsible for checking and replacing batteries;
- outbuildings, sheds, garages or greenhouses at your home other than those we have provided permanently for you;
- ensuring that your own fittings (such as cookers and washing machines) are installed correctly and meet current safety standards;
- bleeding radiators and resetting heating time clocks for programmes.

b) Reporting Faults

You must promptly report any repairs for which we are responsible. If you do not, we may not be responsible for the cost of any additional work needed as a result of any avoidable delay in reporting the work to us.


c) Allowing us to enter your home

You must allow us (or anybody working for us) on production of satisfactory identification, to enter your home after giving notice (and at all time in the case of an emergency) to inspect your home or carry out repairs or improvements or other works including gas safety checks and servicing. We will give you 7 days prior notice except in an emergency.
