26 Jul 2010

From the first of July, John Whitelock joined the Executive Team as Director of New Business taking on a new role combining the housing development side of Saffron Housing Trust with bringing in new services and opportunities. Some of our customers will know John as he has been with Saffron, initially with the supported housing team, since it started six years ago. He is looking forward to his new role and believes that Saffron is well placed to help develop new services for tenants and the wider community. Saffron is also delighted to welcome new Board members, South Norfolk Councillors Eloise Ellis and John Overton.

Improving our service

Involvement in Continuous Improvement

We have a programme of reviewing all our services to ensure we improve our services and provide value for money. We undertake an 'impact assessment' which shows how services have improved as a result of resident involvement .

Involvement in major works and redevelopment programme

If we are carrying out work to individual properties we will ensure that you have opportunities for information and involvement.

We will ensure that we consult all residents affected by major works and new projects.

We will ensure that you are given the opportunity to discuss and comment on planned work, and we will take account of your comments.

Involvement in Policy Development

We will ensure that residents are fully involved in the development of our operational policies through our Customer Advisory Panel, Area Panels, Residents' Groups and Sheltered Housing Panel.

Involvement in Service Delivery Standards

We ensure that residents are fully involved in the development of service delivery standards and monitoring.

Monitoring Resident Involvement

We will ensure that the options for residents to get involved are reviewed on a regular basis by:

  • The Customer Advisory Panel
  • Area Panels
  • Surveys

 Customer Advisory Panel (CAP)

The Customer Advisory Panel is the umbrella resident group that consist of nominated representatives.

The Customer Advisory Panel meets regularly and is involved in influencing decisions and policies. It also encourages involvement through training.

The Right to be consulted.

We will consult tenants and tenant groups before we make any changes in our housing policies or the way we manage your home.

The Tenant Compact

The Tenant Participation Compact illustrates how you can get involved in our services and sets standards for support available from us

The aims of the Compact are to:

  • Empower tenants to participate in the management of their homes at a level they wish.
  • Work in partnership and enable tenants to play a role in the decision-making process
  • Develop types and levels of involvement.
  • Listen to tenants and respond to their views with the aim of continuous improvement in the provision of services that meet their needs and wishes.

Information on getting involved

Information on getting involved will be made available to you through our newsletter, by letter, meetings and on this website. Our Resident Involvement Statement and Compact are available on request. Both these documents are constantly being reviewed to bring them inline with regulatory and statutory obligations and the Trust's corporate objectives in respect of resident involvement.

We want to enable all tenants to become involved and to help you attend meetings we can pay for childcare and travel costs.

All groups are inclusive and we encourage representation from all sections of the community.

If you would like to find out more information about CAP or any other group please contact the Customer Involvement Team on 01508 532032 or 01508 532029.
