From the first of July, John Whitelock joined the Executive Team as Director of New Business taking on a new role combining the housing development side of Saffron Housing Trust with bringing in new services and opportunities. Some of our customers will know John as he has been with Saffron, initially with the supported housing team, since it started six years ago. He is looking forward to his new role and believes that Saffron is well placed to help develop new services for tenants and the wider community. Saffron is also delighted to welcome new Board members, South Norfolk Councillors Eloise Ellis and John Overton.

Executive and Management Team

Saffron operations and directed by a team of three senior managers. They are supported by a number of departmental managers that run various aspects of the organisation. Details of the departments and functions within the overall structure are found under 'departmental information'.

The current senior management team of Saffron is as follows

Chief Executive Adam Ronaldson
Director of Housing and Finance Stephen Flowitt-Hill
Director of Asset Management Steve Burns
Director of New Business John Whitelock

Adam Ronaldson

Adam joined the organisation in late 2003 and led the transfer process from the local authority to an independent organisation. His role is to continue to develop the business to meet the board's aspirations, fulfil the tenant's expectations all within agreed financial parameters.

He has also has management responsibility for
• the co-ordination of Saffron's development strategy to tackle the demand for affordable homes in South Norfolk,
• the IT infrastructure required,
• the provision of a first class Human Resources function
• ensuring adequate administrative resources and corporate services.

Previously Adam worked in the private sector, principally in the Automotive information sector, working in the UK, Ireland and Switzerland.

Stephen Flowitt-Hill


Stephen joined Saffron in January 2004 as Director of Finance, and added Housing Management to his portfolio following the reorganisation of the Executive Team in 2005. His responsibilities include the people who live in the "bricks and mortar" as well as ensuring that Saffron can pay its way. Stephen is ably assisted by excellent managers and their teams in general needs housing, supported housing and finance.

Prior to joining Saffron, Stephen held similar roles in RSLs in Peterborough and Scotland, where he was also an independent Board member of an LSVT.

Steve Burns

Steve has worked in social housing in the south Norfolk area for a number of years in a variety of roles. As Director of Asset Management, he is responsible for Saffron's "bricks and mortar" -the condition of the houses, bungalows, flats and communal facilities. The team provide maintenance, servicing and improvement programmes and is tasked with ensuring that Saffron's houses reach the Governments "Decent Homes" standard

Steve manages a team of 80 staff, supported by a range of specialist contractors, who provide a range of skills from plumbing and bricklaying to architecture and he aims to provide planned and effective works and to continue to develop the service using directly employed staff whenever it is cost effective to do so.
